Bitter Defeat – Blaise Maximillian

Well, I know that I’ve been saying it for a long time, but I’ve finally started to edit all of my Blaise stories so that I can publish them in an anthology of short stories, most like to be know as “Bitter Defeat Volume 1″. As many of you will know, I wrote some of these stories on my iPod as I walked to and from work, as an exercise in flash fiction, to hone my skills.

The originals of these stories are still on this blog, but they are completely different. If you think of the cars that are driven into the garage in ‘Pimp my Ride’, and the car that is finally driven out at the end of the show, you have a good idea as to just how much things have changed in these stories!

Take “The German Captain” for example. The original story numbered around 580 words. It now numbers exactly 3,094. Not a bad result for a couple of hour’s writing this evening!  I actually set myself a target of 2,000 words, but managed to squeeze out 2,833 as I worked on this and “The Orphan Robber”.

I’m aiming to have an anthology numbering a minimum of 35,000 words and with at least two new stories that have never been seen before in any guise. One of which most certainly involves salad because, as everyone knows, no good story ever starts with a salad. Well, this one bloody well will!

I hope to have this collection finished, edited and a cover designed and approved within two months. All I have to do then is encourage you lot to buy the damn thing!
